In 1852, Levi Strauss, a Bavarian immigrant, opened a dry goods business in San Francisco during the California Gold Rush. While working, he recognized the need for durable clothing designed to withstand tough conditions. Along with tailor Jacob Davis, they combined copper rivets and sturdy denim fabric, leading to the creation of the first waist overalls in 1873. Today, we refer to these iconic creations as "blue jeans."
