Made from high-quality stainless steel, nickel, and chromium, Power Coil wire thread inserts provide strong internal threads resistant to heat and corrosion. Their unique design ensures superior threads that cannot be replicated by any other single fastening method. Available in two main types — free-running or screw-lock — they are lighter and more cost-effective than equivalent thread inserts. Due to their small size, they can generally be integrated into existing designs without prior modifications.

Free-running inserts are made from fine austenitic stainless steel wire coiled into a helical shape, resembling a spring. When installed using various manual or automated tools, they provide durable internal threads resistant to heat and corrosion. Once installed, their position is maintained by radial pressure between the coils and the hole walls. This pressure exists because their free diameter is slightly larger than the installed diameter.

Screw-lock inserts are especially valuable in applications subject to vibration or shock. In addition to the benefits of free-running inserts, screw-lock inserts provide extra prevailing torque security. This is achieved via one or more polygonal grip coils inside the insert that exert radial pressure on the male thread. Each grip coil has a series of cross-locking wires that protrude inside the smaller diameter of a standard free-running coil. When the male thread passes through these grip coils, the lock holes are displaced, applying radial pressure or prevailing torque to the male thread. When the male thread is removed, the coils relax back to their original shape, allowing repeated assembly while maintaining a measurable level of prevailing torque.
